Mountain Biking

haha lol (Supercow) interesting opinion. I do XC cycling mainly and a bit of trail. I probably will do more trail in the future. Would you be able to recommend a good pair of full finger gloves. I am not looking for very expensive though. Also would the shimano saint MX80 Pedals fit specialized pitch comp 2015?

Have a look at 661 Raji or Comp. I have a pair of Comp's and they have lasted me well. No wet weather protection but they do still grip well in the wet.

About trails. What does the blue and green mean. Like which one will be the easiest? Are they like DH or XC or Enduro?

Green is easiest.
Blue is a touch longer with some low jumps
Red is slightly more taxing, longer with some more technical climbs/descents/jumps
Black is as per red but slightly more technical
Orange is instant death.

To be honest it depends entirely on where you go. For example, black routes at Llandegla are fast and flowy, blacks at Cannock Chase are short, steep and rocky.

Colour gradings have nothing to do with lengths of tracks just how difficult/technical it is.

Green is basically a gravel fireroad track a 3 year old could do
Blue will be more challenging but ridden by anyone whos bike competant
Red will be again more challenging, maybe roots, rocks, jumps but again rideable by anyone competant
Black will be a lot tougher than red and should really only tackled if you find reds far too easy and want a challenge
Then theres orange, purple, black diamond n others which are pro fo sho

Not specifically but Green/blue/red tend to go up in length, certainly at the trails I go to but that is personal experience :)

Bolterixus - choose a trail to go to and do a bit of research (YouTube vids etc). You will probably be fine starting on blues. Green literally is family trails that my 5 year old rides on :)

Just rode Terry belly, not bad at all. Shame I nearly died because I had too much air pressure in my tyres lol. +1 BPW!
Just on the bus for last uplift, gonna do wibbly wobbly, pork belly then bush wacker to car park then home!
Aww man I would have come up if I'd known you were going :( Was Terrys Belly really that lame Juggy?!?

Ah ok I see thanks Juggy. Which trails would you recommend which are closest to Cardiff. I probably will start with the green and go up the ladder
Plenty of riding around Cardiff! Nothing very close trail centre specific but you have various woods at the top end of Cardiff that I ride that a good fun! (Rudry/Draethen area) :) Drop me a Trust message mate :) Welcome to tag along on a ride sometime.

Went out for a ride and a play with the GoPro earlier, only up the common by here:

"I can ride my bike with no handlebars... no handlebars"

Sorry dude was only a quick blast. I enjoyed Terrys Belly, just take it for what it is, a blue trail for an AM type bike.

Rhys im about tomorrow and tuesday after work if you fancy a blast?

Terry's belly was hella lame in my opinion. The worst track at bike park wales by far. You have to pedal a boring skinny track for a good 5 minutes just to get to it, then you ride a little bit of some boring open skinny track for about 5 more minutes to ride uphill up a fire road then it finally gets descent when you get into the woods, but its just so boring! Probably 4 or 5 kool switch backs but the rest is a snorfest. Worst of all it kicks you out right at the bottom near where you drive your car to the car park so you have to ride up some steep road for 5 minutes or so just to get to the uplift again!

I love the blue's at bike park wales, probably my favorite part of it to be fair, love melted welly, blue belle, sixtapod and especially willy waver as there all insanely fast. This terrys belly just didnt seem flowy to me at all.

Had an awesome day there in all but the uplift service was terrible. I don't know whats going on. I'm not sure if its drivers taking the mick, too many vans on the track or poor timing but I only managed 5 uplifts in the morning where as last year I did 7 or 8! The ques for the uplift were nonstop as it took so long for a van to arrive, I had to wait for the 3rd van to come down in one instance which has never happened to me before. The ticket price has gone up but the service down :(

I think I'll be hitting forest of dean more in the future as you can do 8-10 uplifts in the morning and another 6-8 in the afternoon if you don't fanny about between sections.

I do need to go with more enthusiastic people though. Me 2 mates I went with today gave up in the morning after 3 runs as they were tired (there in their late 20's for christ sake). Then they managed all of 1 run in the afternoon. So I did 4 runs on my jack jones which doesnt bother me so much but its more fun with peeps.

Rant over.

That sucks :(

It may be something to do with the fact that the drivers have been told to go slow, I.e. Keep to the speed limits. Chatting to one of the drivers a few weeks back on a Thurs Eve uplift (managed 6 uplifts) he said that they have been caught speeding by the FC (who sits in a forest with a speed gun ffs lol!).

You could tell as well, the uplifts were very laboured and it felt he was taking his time compared to the last uplift I did where the drivers would hammer up the mountain. 6 in 3 hours isn't too bad though. I'm not that quick getting to the bottom!

Ah Melted Welly, Vicious Valley and A470 are top of the list!
