Hey,

I'm building a NAS which will be using Windows XP for the operating system. Is it possible to mount the NAS on my MacbookPro?

I've heard of a few protocols such as AFP and SMB but not 100% sure how they work.

Anyone in the same situation and managed to get around this problem?

FAT32 is a good option (providing you don't have files >4GB) as it can be read by both platforms.

This may affect if I build a NAS myself or just buy the QNap TS-209. I don't think I have any files over 4GB but there's always those hidden ones.

I'm finding it difficult making sure I get quick transfer speeds for TimeMachine and being able to use it as a media server to stream stuff to my ps3.
