I've found a monitor desk arm which bends and wiggles in all the right places, AND can handle the whale-like weight of the 28"-er, BUT, I am now going gently potty figuring out how to mount it, and could do with a few things clearing up before I part with any cash.
This is what I've managed to work out so far.
The arm comes with plates/holes for VESA 100x100 and 75x75
The monitor would appear to use a 200x100 fitting.
There are four rubber seals on the reverse of the monitor laid out at about 200x100mm, behind which are little plastic "hook" type things (and a nice view of naked electrical death  ).
The monitor's current base appears to be attached with screws in a 100x50 or 100x75 (only stared, not measured) configuration.
So from that, what I need to know (and the manual's not worth the bits it's written in for this) is.........
1. Does one remove the original base before mounting on the arm?
2. Should the arm be mounted to the screwholes the base came out of?
3. If not, does one really swing half a ton of monitor off those little plastic clip/hook things under the rubber shields?
4. I need a 100x100 to 200x100 adaptor, right?
5. How come when I see such devices, they appear to be designed for screws and not any kind of "clip" arrangement?
6. Why does my head hurt when I think about this?
7. Help!
Thanks for any advice in advance.
