Mounting cantilever monitor on plasterboard walls

Hi, I have two cantilever monitor mounted that I used in brick walls at our old house (we've just moved into a brand new build) and these walls are plaster.

I have two monitors that I wanted to mount, one in happy with because it's flat against the wall, however the other needs the arm to be extended to use it properly.

Will I be alright finding some kind of plaster toggle bolt or something to mount it? The mount is two vertical screws so the weight will be distributed vertically. I could get lucky with finding a stud.

Otherwise I'm tempted to just buy a dual arm desk clamp.

Ive got 2 BONTEC TV Stand/Brackets (1 Freestanding / 1 Wall) Not the same style you have with the swivel arm.

However, im exceptionally impressed with the Quality

You could replace the bracket with the likes of this

With the 5 possible screw holes compared to your existing 2, if you cannot find a stud then the additional mounting points will assist with spreading the load on the plaster board.

Perhaps I'll take a look at where the studs are then, and maybe get a couple of those anyway, the two screws feels less substantial without solid walls.

A lot of people I know use Gripit's as well, 5 of those each should help too if I can't use the studs

The concern with this design of bracket on plasterboard is not fixings failing, if using decent fixings, but the plasterboard itself.

I’d mount a plywood board to the wall, bracing two studs and then fix the bracket to that. Alternatively a smaller plywood square fixed to the wall, ideally in one stud and then the bracket to that.

If you get lucky and a stud is in the right place you could fix the bracket straight to that.

Tesla is correct imo and I would do exactly the same, cantilever on plasterboard is a big no no its just the design of it.

Ill add you can easily find the studs behind the plasterboard now, just see this:

You can search for this also:
Magnet Expert 20mm dia x 10mm thick N42 Neodymium Magnet - 12.1kg Pull ( Pack of 1 )

Its £5.26 on rainforest, I got the same one and it works well I just did as the video and found the buried deep not seen screws in the plasterboard screwed into the wooden studs, I found one stud in the corner of my wall where its in a corner and mounted my cantilever on my plasterboard and wall stud there also found another stud right behind where the light switch socket is screwed in, but with the magnet its easy stuff as the video.

Another way I guess you could do it stick a very thin long screwdriver in the plasterboard especially the corner of the walls and see if it hits the wooden stud, you could then stab it again few cm on the right and if the screwdriver goes further its then after the wooden stud, but I do recommend for a fiver its safer and less damaging to the wall.

its always good to lay some pillows on the table and then mount it and give it a good testing also just in case.

Edit, if you are not confident with DiY or capable always get a professional in ;)

Alternatively I could consider a dual arm desk clamp mount instead? My desk is 36mm pine timber board (2x 18mm stacked together around the edges) so it should withstand the clamp. If it'd be too much weight in one point I could get two, or stack some more wood to give a thicker surface to grip onto.

Only thing I'll say is, screwing into studs in new builds is different to older properties. New builds are all metal stud so you'll need self-drilling screws.

I'd probably go with a bit of ply wood with four or so hollow wall anchors into it to spread the load and then screw the wall mount to that.

Could this be why my in laws stud finder just goes nuts on the walls? I'd find a stud and it would beep at me all the way up/down without letting up.
