Mounting TV - level to base or roof?

Hi guys,

I'm mounting my TV above a radiator. It's covered and is the only place the TV can go. It's hardly ever switched on so hopefully no worries there. The problems are:

1. For optimum viewing height I get the TV should be level with eyes. However mounting a TV there will look silly. Would you allow room for a soundbar or the likes in the future? I have an all front 5.1 system at the minute but if soundbars get better I may consolidate. How much gap should I leave between the TV and radiator for it? 20cm?
2. The radiator and cover isn't level, it's slightly off. I was going to put the TV level per my spirit level but I'm wondering if this is going to look weird with the radiator not being flat.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

Level it with a spirit level, remove the radiator (if you hardly ever use it) and mount it at the correct height.

You may change the radiator / cover, in the future so imagine if you installed the TV a bit off

Sounds like a classic case of shoe horning in a TV that is too big!

Either buy one that fits or re-design your room around your new big screen!

TV fits fine, but the shape of the living room means the only place the TV will go is on the massive wall opposite the sofa. Unfortunately there is a radiator on that wall but I just keep it off and use a radiator shelf.

If the stupid builders had stuck to the measurements my sofa would have fitted but alas it's 3cm too big.

Cheers for the feedback guys :)
