Mouse and apps constantly freezing

No idea where to put this topic, so here is as good as anywhere.

Over the last two weeks my mouse has been constantly freezing when browsing, and I've noticed this in games too. Games will stall for a few seconds and then resume. As of today it's getting more and more frequent. Malware and virus scans come up with nothing. Any idea what this could be?

Used to have a similar thing with an old FA311 Netgear NIC. Might be worth checking your network drivers.

My mouse does this when the battery is low.

Could be a disk error, spluttering on access - check your system event log.

And now my mouse completely died while playing L4D2. It's corded so nothing to do with batteries. It's not my USB ports either since I switched them over and they both started working again. Very weird but the freezing's still continuing.

try wiggling the cord around while playing a game its possibly a broken wire.

if its not your mouse it could be your hardisk dieing if for some reason windows cant access the pagefile the whole system freezes until windows can access the pagefile again.

potentially if an optical drive is dieing the same thing could happen with stutters

Could be your hd on the way or going into sleep mode, check your power options and turn it all to high performance.

Maybe it is anti virus running/conflicting?
