i thought ryzen only worked with windows 10?

Sounds like you've plugged them into a usb3 port that on Win 7 doesn't automatically mean they'll work before being installed, plus I wouldn't be trying to use 7 with Ryzen.

I'll create a windows 10 installation USB stick and use Windows 10 hopefully that will sort the issue

not sure about the mouse issue but as above, use the usb 2 ports on the back of the mobo. some asus boards have a USB mouse port for bios, normally next to the LAN port but not sure on lower tier boards.

with windows 7, i dont think there are any drivers and not sure if the CPU would work with 7 full stop. Installation is running off software but soon as it boots into windows... or if it does.. thats another question
