Mouse and keyboard or controller?

Hi,

I'm new to PC gaming and before I was playing xbox 360, so i'm used to using the controller.

Coming to PC I've found it hard to adjust to the mouse and keyboard.

Is it worth persisting with the mouse and keyboard or should I just hook up my wired 360 controller to the PC?

How important is the type of mouse and keyboard?

I bought a gaming mouse from Ebay for about £10 and ive got a bog standard keyboard, will they do or should i be looking to upgrade?
