So i have a G5 mouse and a Formula force ex wheel. I have all the latest drivers for both but when i plug them both in the mouse decides to stop working? Are they conflicting?

This is really annoying me. Ive uninstalled both the drivers for the mouse and wheel and it still freezes..anyone?

I'm really not sure of the cause but just to check the obvious, have you tried switching around the USB ports that are being used? Have you tried the wheel with a different mouse?

Ive tried most of the USB ports but havent tried another mouse. I dont really want to go buy another mouse because my current one (G5) wont work with the wheel. Im sure it worked fine before even with this mouse!

Ok, just borrowed my brother's old ball mouse and it hasnt froze up. So my G5 works fine but not when i plug in the steering wheel!. Also i just flashed the G5 the newest driver and it still done it. The roller ball mouse is using the mouse input and not USB. IS it possible to power my G5 through the mouse port with an adapter?

I think you should be able to use the mouse with a PS2 adapter. Unfortunately I can't really test this theory as my PS2 adapters are ~60 miles away from where I am right now.

Tried the adapter and the mouse wont even power. The light on the bottom is on but the light showing the DPI settings isnt showing...this is really annoying me now!

It sounds like it may be a USB power problem, I couldn't use my G25 wheel without it killing my internet connection. My fix was to get a new Hub which was less power hungry.

You may need to get a powered USB Hub but there's no guarantee this would work but they are not that dear.

Surely i cant be starving power from the motherboard though? Ive tried the front and rear panel and there both the same.

I unplugged all my USB devices and some other hardware but I couldn't get my wheel and Hub to work together the advice was to by a powered USB but as I was upgrading my connection complete with new Hub, I waited and it worked.

I don't know if it was a power issue or software but it fixed the problem. I did try all my USB sockets aswell. One thing I did discover is that I could plug the wheel in without it turning off the Hub but only as long as I had the drivers for the wheel uninstalled.

I did some searching and found that my particular Hub was Known to be a power hog which backed up the advice I got on other forums.
I wouldn't have thought a mouse would be a problem though but you never know.

Like I said there is know easy way of knowing if a powered USB would help in this situation.
