Mouse Double Clicking

A while ago, I won a competition on the Overclockers Facebook page. I won a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. This has been fantastic but recently it has been registering clicks on any of the mouse buttons as double clicks.

How could I see if this is a hardware or software issue?

Thanks.

Try software way first.
Go to:
Start -> Control panel > Mouse and check all the settings. Maybe something is a bit to sensitive there.

Hardware way:
Maybe it's dirty inside. It happened to a lot of my Microsoft mice before.
If there is any chance to open it up without breaking anything, then try to clean it a bit. I bet there is some mold coming inside through the middle key/roll.

Hi I have the same mouse and the same issue. I sprayed some contact cleaner inside it on the switches etc and it fixed it for a while, but it is happening again now. Hopefully you fix it but for me it looks like new mouse time.
