Hey guys,

So I'd been suffering with a dreaded double / triple click problem with my Razer DeathAdder 3.5G mouse (where 1 click sometimes results in a double or triple click).

The problem had been getting worse and so I decided to check the internet to see if this was a software or hardware issue. The internet originally led me to believe that it could be either and that apparently installing Synapse could fix the problem - tried that, no joy.

Tried the mouse on another laptop, same problem, so it appeared to be a hardware issue.

I was just about to order a new mouse when I stumbled upon a thread on tomshardware forum where a guy called Pat Flynn said:

"The toggle switch that operates the 'button' sometimes gets a static charge buildup. To help release it, breath a few breaths into the gap between the button and the base of the mouse (the slit that allows the button to move and 'click'). The humidity in your breath will usually dissipate the static buildup and the button will stop double clicking- most of the time. I repaired a Logitech G602 using this method, it might work on the Razer mice as well.
*Note- it may take a few tries to do this, I had to do this to my mouse over several days. Slow breaths are better as it allows more humidity to dissipate the static."

Anyway, I decided to give a try, and hay presto, it worked!

Just thought I'd share this in case anyone else has the same problem. Hopefully it works for you too.

Sometimes they recommend a driver tweak, as the debounce logic can be too sensitive for old switches (so the manufacturer can reduce click latency, but older mice with looser tolerances become more prone to double clicks). Never heard about a build up of static charge before. But hey, if it works.... hmm, maybe it just helps clean up the contacts, that's why sometimes it is also recommended to use a good spray of electronics cleaner (requires to open the mouse, but I guess a good thorough clean up on old mice might be good once in a while anyway).

Had double click with my G600 (bought in 2013) recently, saw someone online suggesting to turn mouse off (just unplugged mine) & spam the LMB (or affected button) fast for around 30 seconds, so I did that.

Wasn't expecting it to work, but it did. Perhaps only a temp' fix? But hopefully lasts long enough for G600's to appear in EU again :p

P.S. search "autohotkey double click". There's a script that can help & also an .exe too if the above doesn't help.

Every mouse I have ever had click issues with I have fixed by replacing the metal plate inside the switch. Procedure takes about a minute and the replacement plate costs about 50p.
