Mouse for medium/large hands

Most mice I try I seem to find my hand encompasses. I didn't think my hands were that big (is there even a size guide for hands?), but I'm looking at getting a mouse where my hands can rest on the mouse rather than my thumb, little finger and finger next to that one touching the desk.

Any recommendations?

If your hand is THAT big, then no. Nothing especially recommended.
I take size 10 gloves, which usually equates to XXXL in most retail gloves and I still have three digits sliding along the mousepad. I've not found a single one that keeps all my fingers off the pad.

About the biggest mouse I have found is the old 16-button World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm mouse. It was comfy and I loved having loads of buttons, but it was also quite light and felt a little flimsy... plus it was WoW merchandise and I'm not 12! ;)

Most of the bigger ones will be gaming mice, which means they will be pretty pricey.
My two personal faves are the Logitech G700S (£90-ish) and the Coolermaster Storm Inferno (£25-40, usually). Roccat do the Kone which is pretty beefy, and the Kova which is low-profile but surprisingly comfortable. They also have the Tyon coming out soon, which I was thinking of trying.

Beyond that, it's mostly a case of going up your local well-known PC retailer(s) shops and trying out whatever they have on display, or altering your grip to prevent digit-drag.

my hands were only 10" spread out. God knows what your hands are haha.
Actually they're a shade over 10" as well... and in case any ladies are wondering, all the 'myths' are true! ;):p

Good call on the 'well-known PC retailer' sort of thing, never even considered that!
Fixed that for you.

It's generally frowned upon to mention competitor retailers here, y'see ;)
That's why people talk about things like the ** Hinting at competitor names is also frowned upon **
Besides, most of them cost a lot more than OCUK and their customer service is crap... One place was charging almost 50% over!

I too take size 10 gloves; I'd take size 11 if any were available. I use a trackball - a Kensington Orbit - rather than a mouse.

Still looking. Going to a well-known PC retailer tonight to try out a few...
Fixed that for you! ;)

Bear in mind that some branches may or may not have any out on display to try. It seems to depend on the store, the manager, the day and whether a butterfly in China flaps its wings... They certainly don't carry every brand thus far mentioned but if you find one you like (or that is at least OK-ish), let us know and we can work from there.

I had a RAT 5 fully extended to fit my paws. Still felt smallish but much better than others i have used.

I was enthralled when I first saw the RAT series.
I think I'd decided the 7 offered the best bang for buck, feature-wise.

However, when I tried several out, I was very disappointed. My hand only just fit and placement had to be exact. There was no room for stretching out and the low profile made it worse.

I finally gave up on that idea when friends started reporting breakages after very short ownership times!

My hands are like shovels.

Bought a SteelSeries Rival last week.

Fabulous mouse for the money. Better than all the Razer mice I have had so far.

Fits like a glove too.

Recommended!

In what way(s) does it fit better than most other mice - Length, width, height, or a combination?

Combination really.

Its made for your right hand so it fits nice, I like the length and the height better than any Razer mouse I have used so far (been a Razer fan for years). The weight is very good also (not too light).

The switches make a better click/feel too.

Good software as well and you can change the colour (just like chroma)

Hence I recommend the SteelSeries Rival.

** Not the OcUK price **
