As the title suggests my mouse freezes when it gets to the windows login in screen. I have try a different mouse to rule out that it was just the mouse that wasnt working but still it did not work. When in the BIOS the mouse works also. Starting to think it might be a driver problem. The night before it stopped working windows done an update and since that this has happened. So i tried a system restore and that didnt work either.

Any suggestions folks???

Have you tired going back a couple of restore points not just the last one.

open device manager and remove it. can you navigate ok using the keyboard? start>search>devmgmt.msc

use the tab key to change focus from pane to pane and use the cursor keys to navigate up and down. one of the keys near your space bar should have a logo like a context menu. use that to "right click" and uninstall the mouse completely now unplug it and then plug it back in again and hopefully it will re-detect it properly.

My mouse does this (Razer Lachesis). In my case it's the mouse's fault - it's survived a reformat and different drivers.

I can fix mine by unplugging it and putting it back in again - so I just leave it in the front USB port now.

There are only 2 restore points to chose from and they don't work. Also my keyboard won't work either:( So I think it may be a case of re installing windows again:(

I have this exact same issue with the same mobo as you. It eventually lets me click, but it usually happens at start up or when plugin in usb devices. I've not managed to find a solution in a month :( (and yes I have reinstalled twice, updated drivers, bios, everything).

If anyone solves this then they're a genius.

That happened to be once, and it turned out i needed new batteries for the mouse. Not saying that your's need new batteries, might need checking.
