Mouse Freezing

hi, just did a reformat and now my mouse freezes on a regular bases, maybes once every couple minutes, really annoying, it isn't the pc freezing just the mouse. i can get it unfroze by simply pressing any key but when i install ym games i reckon its gonna be a newsence. anyone know the cure?

Crap on the laser/ball?

Connected properly?

System up to date? (doubful this would affect it but you never know)


If wireless:

- something between the mouse and receiver interrupting the signal?

- low battery?


If wired:

- dodgy cable?

Also, if none of that works, seeing as you've just done it so shouldn't have anything to lose, might be worth formatting again just to make sure something didn't break in the installation.

To hell with that, took a month of sundays for it to format first time!
 
A. is it a PS/2 or a USB mouse? If USB, have you tried using another port?

B. have you tried downloading the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website and installing them?
 
Sorry to hijack the thread but its another mouse related problem since format.

My USB mouse, razer diamonback doesnt seem to power up everytime i start the computer and i have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it working again. No light on it until i replug it.

Used to have the problem years ago but has not happened in a long time until i recently formatted again and the problem resurfaced. Nothing new in my computer, the same stuff plugged in USB as there was when all was working fine.

That was happening to me on my last install the only fix I could find was to use it with the ps2 adaptor.
