Hi

I've got a zowie ec1 evo that I've had for about 2 years now. Its started to cease to function and freeze in windows 8.1 for some reason. Then randomly whether its a hour or 30 mins works again sometimes it works when i unplug and re plug/ turn off pc other times it doesn't. When it doesn't work the cursor disappears and i can click sometimes but its locked to the middle of the screen. But then when i plug in a different mouse the other mouse works fine. So i want to know whether its the mouse or windows and whether buying a new mouse would fix it?

Thanks for reading any suggestions appreciated

I've tried many diff usb ports but not another pc but a standard mouse works so its confusing. Its like its overheating or something because it works for a few minutes then suddenly goes offline. I'm going to buy a new mouse (the same one) if i have the same issues its going to be very annoying lol and it cant be dust on the lens it completely stops working like its not sending info to pc because cursor disappears. also sometimes it comes on and flashes red.

Looks like it's loosing power and connectivity. Cable would be a good bet. Maybe electronics is failing, but cable would be more likely. Try to move the cable around, at the mouse end, or shake the mouse, to see if there is a pattern.

Thanks man that is a good idea i just tried it though shook the cable viciously and put tension on it at the ends. Didn't get it to do what its been doing its still operating now but for how long lol. It must be the electronics inside failing or something because everything is fine when it works but then it just gives up.

I will let you guys know whether i figure it out i got a new mouse coming tomorrow if it has the same issue somehow and its a software thing im going to feel real stupid. As i already deleted the drivers and reinstalled etc even though the best thing about the Zowie mouses is they use standard drivers...

The way to tell is to try the mouse in another computer (even a laptop / notebook). I've had quite a few 'driverless' mice, and never encountered a driver issue.

The one thing that seemed to pop up though, was UEFI BIOS incompatibilities, and sleep states. The mouse lights not shutting down when computer is turned off, unless using sleep state S4/S5. Something to do with the mouse firmware and the computer charging devices while powered down. But Zowies weren't affected.
