im not sure what could be causing this, but it doesnt matter what im doing my mouse will just stop, the laser stays on and the mouse looks like its working but i cannot move my cursor around the screen (think it happens most in games) it works again when i unplug it and plug it back in, but its DAMN ANNOYING!

anyone have any idea what could cause this? the only usb setting ive changes is that my usb is set to 500hz but i run it at 500hz since the day i bought it and i doubt that would do much anyway

could the mouse be broken or can something else cause this?

what mouse is it? does it require drivers? my razer didnt work very well with out the razer disk loaded. is there any chance the USB has gone funny?? or the drivers for that have some how vanished you have probably checked all this stuff but all i can think of at the mo, Unless the mouse has a bad cable not sure how you would check that

Is it plugged into a USB hub?
Mine used to cut out when I used the scroll wheel.

I had the same problem with my microsoft basic optical 4 or 5 years its still going. I used to have to take it out and put it back in again. seems to have stopped now. try hitting it on your desk works for most things

Ive got this problem, expect the mouse goes off completely every time i ove it, so i doubt its a driver issue, is their any way if fixing it or is it an RMA job, i brought over a year ago im i still covered.

edit: this is wierd, when i move the wire to the right it goes off, dead, no lights nothing. But when i move the wire to the left it suddenly springs to life again :(

Thanks

just thought id bump this as i still havent sorted it, ive turned off the power saving thing and that still didnt help, the laser stays on but the mouse just stops dead as if its not plugged in, also tried updating drivers but that didnt help

its plugged directly into my motherboard, no hubs, any more ideas?

i had a issue where any mouse i used wether it be usb, or ps2 would go off when i played a game, not straight away, but mostly when i was in smoke, or zoomed in with the sniper rifle, and it only happend in games, and sumtimes in sum flash programs, tried format, driver reisintall etc.
No matter what mouse it was, mx510-intelimouse, tried quite a few, untill i got a logitech g5, and i have never had the issue again, but i believe it may of been a psu issue.

well ive just reinstalled usb drivers as i hadnt done that yet, quite annoying really, i was installing them then it poped up with a message, but by that point on the install it had disabled my keyboard and mouse

plugged in a ps2 keyboard and mouse and restarted but it wouldnt detect them, finally got it to work though, i didnt goto sleep last night so as you can imagin i have a very short temper at the moment :P broke a few keys on the ps2 keyboard but its only a spare tatty thing haha

time to see if the older (drivers off the motherboard driver cd) are any better than the ones currently on the nvidia website
