Hi folks,

My mouse (Logitech Premium Optical Mouse with Wheel - about £5!) keeps turning off and back on again in a matter of 2-3 seconds, at random intervals, both in win7 and in games/apps.

Don't have another mouse to test but I'd be very surprised if the mouse was actually at fault? Seemed to work fine for a month or so now suddenly this is happening.

No Logitech drivers installed (or available AFAIK), just the win7 MS default ones.

Any ideas?

Cheers,

EDIT: I've updated chipset and tried different USB ports. No joy.

EDIT2: When it turns off I hear the "dun dom" win7 sound, suggesting something has been unplugged. But no "dun DUN" sound to tell me it's come back on, it just starts working again.

I take that this is a USB mouse.

Go to your power settings, that is in the Control panel under "system and security".......>"power options"

and change the advanced settings......."USB setting.........usb selective suspend setting >to disable.

see if that cures your problem.

Result.

I reckon it's all to do with microsoft making this default for laptop battery power savings.

some netbooks still consume power from the usb ports as they are still active. even when the netbook is fully charged and switched off, the next time you power up you will notice the battery indicator will not be at 100%
