Mouse Lag

I'm using a generic wireless mouse along with Windows 7 and basically since day one it intermittently lags, sometimes stops moving altogether. I've put up with it for ages but now it's just really starting to pee me off. I also have a wireless keyboard and get absolutely no problems with that.

I've done plenty of googling, can't find a solution that works. Apparently wireless mouse lag is a pretty common occurence within W7.

I've got a little bit of spare cash and i'm looking at splashing out on a decent wireless gaming mouse. However does anyone know if i'll still have the same problems with mouse lag even with a more expensive, high quality mouse?

Secondly, does anyone know of a possible solution to my existing problem apart from the most obvious results when searching via google as none of these have worked for me :(

Re current solution, if possible you can try changing the channel the mouse is on (if it allows) in case theres intereference from something on same channel
Re new mouse, therell always be a certain amount of lag with wireless mice, proper hardcore gamers will always use wired, but you will get less with better tech mice (though they will be more expensive)

It's a pretty rubbish Trust mouse, picked it up in Wilko's for a few quid. It worked perfectly under XP and Vista, no lag, no problems ever, only have the problems with W7. I'm pretty sure i'm unable to change the channel on the mouse :(

I don't mind having a little lag on the wireless, as I said I've used this mouse before for gaming, on and offline with no problems at all. I'm looking at spending maybe £30-£60 for a decent gaming mouse, was just curious if more money definitely meant less lag :)

mx518, best mouse for the money. If you really want to go 30-60 then there's a lot of choice, but more money doesn't necessarily mean better mouse :P

+1

Any wireless mouse will have some lag, wired is always the way forward :)

My mum had one if those trust wireless mice and all she did was complain about it. She's
now bought a decent one and has stopped complaining.

Ditch the mouse, it's not worth trying to fix something cheap and nasty.

The major annoyance here for me is this, yes, it's a cheap generic mouse. However i've used it with no problems under Windows XP and Vista...yet under Windows 7, it just doesn't work well at all.

I've also used it for gaming under XP/Vista and never had the slightest lag, therefore never felt the need to upgrade. Once again, under Windows 7, just doesn't work well for games either.

I understand that any wireless mouse will have lag but i've never noticed lag with my current mouse under previous OS's, that's where the problem is for me.

I want to stay wireless, I love having a tidy desk, i'm just worried if I do spend a little more for a wireless gaming mouse that it will still lag and i'll end up smashing the damn thing against the wall in frustration.

+ for wireless mouse:
No wires

- for wireless mouse:
