Is there a general opinion for what's better, cloth mats vs hard?

Also, roughly, how often do the teflon feet on the mouse need changing? I've had my G5 for around three years now. Does replacing them make much difference?

Ta.:)

I'd say its personal choice really! I've had both and prefer the cloth type, although I'm getting older and I'm typing this with slip on slippers on lol :D

And as for the feet thing, unless they come off I can't see it making that much of a difference?

That's a very subjective topic.

I like the resistance of a cloth mat, personally, i feel i have more control over its movement - but for every one post like mine you're going to get a hard mat response saying exactly the opposite.

My advice is, if you have the money, buy both and give away the one you don't like.

i want one of those :O let me know how big it is and if its any good :p

Supposed to big a monster, will have my monitor and keyboard setting on it too, that way the wife can't hear me mashing the keyboard at all hours whilst deep in gaming heaven!! lol

Will do though

Cheers, will have to buy a hard mat and compare. May treat myself to a new mouse too, like the look of the latest razer mice.

Currently have a large Everglide Titan, would never go back to a hard mouse mat. But I too am getting old and prefer comfort :D

Tried a steel mat years ago and the feeling of movement was pretty good. Problem was that my hand would stick to the mat when making most movements with the mouse so I gave up the idea of using these.

I used the Icemat and i havent used anything else since :) but as the above posters have said at the end of the day it comes down personal preference, so try both types and see which one you feel more comfortable with.

Personally I like the hard mats, they seem to move around less. Had the razer exactmat for over a year which was metal, lovely mat. had that cloth roccat mat which gave funny responses with the mouse sometimes. Now got the razer destructor which is brilliant, not metal so it has a little flex, sticks to the desk well and the mouse tracking is perfect.

It's 900mm by 440mm. And it's beautiful. Takes up most of my desk, but it's a really nice surface to rest on. Even with all the fur (thanks kitty) and tea/orange juice (thanks to my ex-girlfriend) the mouse still glides, best mousemat i've ever used.
And you get a little sweatband with it, awesome :D

For those HOT summer evenings gaming :)

Like hard mats. Less friction = faster head poppin'. If you've got good mouse control then you're shooting yourself in the foot by going for sluggish cloth. I'm using the razer destructor atm and imo it's as good as a mouse mat could possibly get.

Cloth all day long, QcK heavy is one of the better ones out there. Ive used so many different matts over the years for gaming (8 years) and I used to love plastic matts, but I much prefer cloth now having used them for the last 3 years.

Is true, when i'm pro-gamer-McJim i'll sell it. Worn for 6 months, never washed. Any takers? :P

Not at the moment :)

I like hard mats but find they need wipin with stuff from time to time as they get slow and sticky etc.. general use nothing else :D

lol, I meant the wristband. What are you doing to your mat to make it sticky?!

I've used plastic mats (anyone remember mario paint?) but I prefer cloth by miles, and the boogie bug feels really nice as a desk surface. I'm thinking of buying another one to carpet the inside of my case with :D
