Mouse movements not fluid

Hey,

I've been using my machine this morning for about an hour and the mouse has just started being jurky... it moves smoothly for about 2 seconds, then theres a 1 second pause, then after that it jumps to where it should be (if a fluid movement was happening) and cycles around on this loop

Any suggestions on what might be causing this? It has happened in the past and a reboot has sorted it but its a bit annoying!

I'm backing up important work and files before i do reboot in case something on the way to deaths door.

Have you checked the mouse itself, is the underside dirty, have any of the feet come off, if it's a ball type mouse, check/clean the ball plus rollers.

Does it go away if you unplug it and plug it back in (if its usb) ?

the ball itself i cleaned, i didnt unplug and plug back in... a reboot fixed it but i'll try that next time...

it feels, although i dont know how i can feel such things, like its Windows having a paddy tho
