Mouse not very sensitive

I have a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer v4 (I think). My screen resolution is 1920x 1080 and so the mouse has some distance to go.

Is there any way I can increase the distance and speed it moves? I've gone to control panel and already maxed out the settings there.

If you've maxed it out in the control panel then that's probably it.

What are you using the mouse on?

Do you mean the one chosen by Windows 7 is not good enough?

I've checked and there is no mouse acceleration options. I think that is what I need. Would that be a hardware or software feature?

Control panel, Hardware and sound, Mouse, Pointer options.

Top section is pointer speed.
