Ok so I just turned my computer back on an boom randomly my Saitek Cyborg V.3 is no longer working.
Done the usual and checked device manager to see what's up. Turns out the device is no longer recognised and is constantly flicking from Human Interface Devices to other devices and now has the name Unknown device.
I have tried using Device Manager to un-install and reinstall the driver but to no avail.

Upon trying to install the driver I get the following message.

An error occurred during the installation of the device:

The driver installation file for this device is missing a neccessary entry. This may be because the INF was written for Windows 95 or later.

This makes no sense as the mouse was working fine for weeks with the same driver it's trying to install.

Ow and it's also throwing out this every second or so in Event Viewer
Driver install failed, result=0x800F0219 for devnode 'USB\VID_06A3&PID_A50A\6&2C24CE2E&0&7'

So far on my check list:
- Reset CMOS
- Tried mouse on other computer (Works)
- Tried new mouse on this computer (Works)

So yeah I have no idea what's up. Any ideas on the matter?

Thanks for any information!

Turned out the Saitek drivers were just terrible. Windows 8 with it's stance on actually downloading drivers quite well was constantly downloading and failing to install the mouse in the background.

Set it to use the default USB mouse driver that comes with Windows and it's back to normal.

After checking the labs it had amd_64 in the driver name. I'm currently using an Intel CPU so yeah that might be one of the reasons it failed XD

Thanks for the tip anyway guys :)

Ow and inb4. Don't buy a cheap mouse XD

That's just the original name of the instruction set the chips use. Your initial guess is probably closer to the mark.
The original specification was created by AMD, and has been implemented by AMD, Intel, VIA, and others.

Yeh Saitek Drivers suck for Windows 8, you will need to uninstall the drivers and re-install with generic drivers.

Same happened to me with my Cyborg 7 Keyboard/

That's the thing. Windows was actually trying to do something automated. Which tbh has worked well for the rest of my mobo drivers.

But each time I would uninstall the driver in device manager it would keep popping back up and moving around in device manager. This was due to Windows constantly trying to install the driver and failing.

Finally finding the option to manually specify a different driver has fixed it but it does spazz up again plugging it into a different point but hay I can live with that.
