Does anyone know how to code (java?) these adverts that underline text so that when you hover mouse over it, an advert pops up with info in it?

Or even tell me what its called (technical term) and where to go to figure it out.

I need it for a different reason, as I can then use it to link database/library info to certain words (like wiki entrys)

Cheers! :)

I'm not aware of a specific name for them - 'hover bubbles', 'hover popups' might prove fruitful on Google.

overLib does what you're after - but consider checking around as there may be some nicer, lighter implementations knocking about :).

If it's what I think you're talking about, the branded version is called "IntelliTXT" and it's a royal PitA :)

I'd be careful about overlaying anything on hover especially on the main copy text unless they automatically turn off on hover-out; usability wise it's very frustrating having to dodge these hotlinks when trying to read an article.

I could tell you what I call it,
but I'd get perma-banned. :p

seriously, no,
kill puppies, rape sheep or vote for Blair if you must,
but please don't write a site with hover links.

think of the children.
