Hello Overclockers community :)

I am here with an issue, quite a frustrating one. Basically around Christmas time I built my own system which was long over due, by the end of it I didn't have a lot of money for peripherals, so the mouse I ended up getting was the Sharkoon Fireglider. Looking at reviews it seemed quite the mouse for a price of £25.

Anyway everything worked flawlessly with the fireglider and the steelseries QcK mouse mat, up until about a week ago.

When it happened
Basically about a week ago, I took apart my system just to fix up some cable management, when I plugged everything back in and booted back up, it seemed fine, then whilst playing BF3 (that same night) I noticed some twitching and jerking from the cursor. Within a few hours it gradually got worse and worse, so I tried using it just on my wooden desk, and it worked fine, but over the next few days, it gradually got worse and worse again.

At first I thought it was the mouse mat, I thought maybe there was a build up of dust and debris, so I washed my mouse mat, and there was no change, I was literally on the edge of buying a new mouse mat, I guess I just didn't want to believe my mouse was broke, so fast. But then after looking at it again, and testing my QcK surface with the other cheap mice I had, I just admitted it was the mouse that was bust.

It's got to the point now where it will not move at all on the mouse mat, or desk, or 98% of materials I try it on, basically now the only thing that this mouse works on is a Final Fantasy Advent Children DVD Case (its white and the material is a glossy plastic) or a FRONT magazine cover (which is also white and glossy).

Now how this has happened is beyond me, other than the mouse has just ** Please fully star out swear words ** itself. I have looked all over the web for others relating to my issue or even a fault with the fireglider, but I honestly couldn't find one person complaining about it, apart from some reviews on ** No competitor naming **, but that was on their first unboxing, and they got it refunded easily, but its 9 months down the line for me, far too late for a refund.

I'm quite shocked to find nobody having a problem with this mouse to be quite honest.. People have problems with top end mice and other mice that are a lot more expensive, but this fireglider just seems to be gods gift? With me being an exception? lol

So all in all, this mouse still actually works, but only on very select surfaces.

What I'm wondering is how would this have happened, and if there's any possible fix or solution or anything to try, or whether or not I should just go and get a new mouse.

At the minute I'm using a £5 mouse on the QcK surface, cause using a DVD case as a mouse mat isn't really... Ideal..

Hi there

Yea I checked for this when it first started happening, seen nothing, then used a cotton bud to ensure I wasn't missing anything. Not a spot of difference
