So my mouse started playing up a little while back and I contacted Logitech about it, as normal they were fast and courtious in all contact and are quite happily to sort the situation out, however...

My mouse is a G7 Carbon Fibre Lan edition, it was stupidly expensive for a mouse and it has a three or five (can't remember which at the moment) year warranty on it and as such is it unreasonable of me to expect that during it's warranty period they should be able to replace like with like?

They have just emailed me saying that their current policy is to replace faulty G7's with G9's, the G9 isn't even wireless and man it's ugleeee.

Gutted :(

Yeh, I would if they had any mice I was remotely interested in. Hoping they'll dig out some stock from a forgotten warehouse somewhere, even if it's just the standard G7, I can at least swap the casing over.

Just have to wait to see what they say. Explain to them that the G9 ain't even wireless so your not gettin anything remotly the same and your discusted that that's what they are doing.

I hate companies like this that try to pull fast ones.

I don't understand the problem. The mouse doesn't look bad in the flesh, but surely if it performs well

Stop being silly.

The only option you will get is to replace it with a Revolution, which would be stupid as it sucks for games.

Your opinion, not mine. There are plenty of other reasons I could give for not wanting a G9, looks is just one, not wireless is another, too small yet another.

Stop being silly.

How is asking for what I paid for being silly? The G9 is not comparable to the G7.

Not at all, I'll go elsewhere for a mouse.

I’m sure somebody posted something similar a while back and they’d been given a choice between the G9 or the revolution, but the revolution doesn’t seem a good alternative for you either.

I wouldn’t expect them to be able to offer you the same mouse for 3/5 years, but you would expect a reasonable alternative. Seems odd to me that they stopped making the G7 without replacing it with something very similar.

Personally I absolutely love the look of the G9 and it’s a damn fine mouse, personal preference I guess, but if you’re replacing a wireless it doesn’t seem a reasonable swap to offer you.

Out of interest, where? I cant think of a decent wireless gaming mouse since they stopped the G7?

I've had it for under a year and a half, not unreasonable really in my opinion.

Yeh, each to their own though isn't it, I think it looks awful, plus it's too small.

Not even looked yet to be honest.

It isn't too small at all :)

Gah... really hope my G7 doesn't pack up now.

Mind, I don't mind the MX, apart from the odd middle button (well, I changed my mini-MX's search button to middle button and am used to that now, just not good for scrolling objects t'wards me in Garry's).

Whether or not you like the look of the mouse that was offered is irrelevant. What is important is they have offered a product for exchange which is nowhere similar to the original purchase, which is wired against wireless. I think you need to have another chat with Logitech and get a MX Revolution to sell on.
Just my 2pence worth and good luck

Agreed. A replacement should be the equivalent. Since its not wireless, it isnt an equivalent.

I'm not having a "go" at Logitech per-say. But this sort of coning the paying customer, really has got to stop. What is the point of offering 3, 5 or 10 year warranty, when after 18 months, they have no means of repair or like for like replacement. Long warranty's sell product, but all too often they are actually worthless.

Sounds silly of me, but I've got the small laptop version...

I'm unsure, but it never seemed to work as it. Will check, but I thought it was just the MX/other VX that did the half-click trick.

Sorry for the offtopic.
