I recently reinstalled Windows and on default mouse settings, "the slider is in the middle" my sensitivity is insane, so crazy infact that even Sensitivity 1 in Valve based games is far too sensitive to do anything, I just wondered what the reason for this is? it shouldnt be pointer precision as it was never a problem before, so any tips/helps would be greatly appreciated, it's XP Professional if you need to know, Many Thanks

Everything like that is fine, it's an MS 3.0, on a Steelpad S&S, I could turn down the pointer speed of course, (it's in the middle now) but when I turn it down low, my small movements are no longer picked up properly as the sens is too low, so while moving it isnt too bad then, my small movements just make it unplayable, as its too insensitive then if you know what I mean, I really dont get why it's like it, i've never experienced it on any fresh install of Windows before, ever :p so any help would be greatly appreciated, Many Thanks

No I havent, it was fine on this exact PC right before I formatted, and it works fine, it just seems to be a setting when XP installs new, that on this particular PC amounts to my mouse being really really sensitive, someone must have run into this problem before ;(

And heres a fun twist for you, i've now got the Windows sens lower, but it's still really crazy in games, at least in Half Life based games, even sens 1 is still a little bit too high, yet my Windows sens feels more managable now, any help would be greatly appreciated, Many Thanks

Sounds like mouse accell, on your previous install did you use the accellfix?

Try these launch parameters in your steam shortcuts (Got to MyGames, right click, properties, Set launch options):
-noforcemaccel -noforcemparms -noforcemspd

In the control panel mouse options untick enhance pointer precision as well

Yeh see thats insane, it should never have to be that low :p, but yeh it's still crazy in Crysis too, just not as much, so it's really confusing, I done a full format a few times so I dunno, but yeh I usually use those commands, i'll give them another try later, and I could try the mousefix I guess, although usually turning pointer precision off does the trick too, but Many Thanks :) i'll report back a lil later! :p

I turned it off though, it's fine in Windows, it's in games it still seems to act like the pointer precision is on, it seems to do it in Crysis aswell so it's not just HL/Source based games either ;(

Nevermind I figured it out, them commands helped in HL/Source games, basically it was forcing Pointer Precision back on when I loaded a game, so the CPL Mouse Fix just made sure it was kept off, Many Thanks for all the help, and bare it in mind if you run into this problem in the future ;D :p
