Mouse unresponsive on first boot...

Hey all,

As per the title, I've got a weird problem on my wife's machine where sometimes the mouse will be completely unresponsive the first time the machine boots. Either rebooting or unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in again fixes it, but it's annoying having to do that every time. I'm at a bit of a loss where to start looking to work this out (my gut tells me it's a USB driver issue rather than the mouse, but I can't be sure...)

Hopefully helpful details:
3770K system on a Gigabyte D3H (Z77) mobo, Windows 10, mouse is a Corsair Sabre with its drivers installed via their CUE software (using latest versions of everything involved)... I believe the board drivers are all up to date too (although Gigabyte's resources for this leave a lot to be desired, and Windows might be doing something stupid behind the scenes)

I've tried swapping the port the mouse is plugged into but that doesn't seem to make a difference. It doesn't happen every boot either; occasionally weeks can pass without it happening, then it can happen 3 times in a week.

I guess what I'm really after here is a few pointers on what/where I should be looking when the problem occurs to try and understand what might be going wrong...
