Could anyone with one of these recommend me a mousemat please,
my mouse will randomly cause the pointer to shoot off in a random direction (usually up), i think it is because the laser picks up irregularities on my desk

Thanks in advance

Ive got the MX1000 laser mouse as well and the best one I found was the Nova Killer mouse mat...

Its £21.14 on here but its the dogs nads..

M8 has the steelpad and that is very good also and thats £17.61 but it never seems to be in stock when I look

mine did that, i don't think it was surface related as it would always do it, even if it was upside down. Tried it in lots of different locations with different machines. It ended up in the bin but i'm sure you could send it back to logitec

I got a steelpad free with my mouse ages ago, its excellent. Very precise. However, it is worth £18.... I don't know.

This article applies to the following OSes:

*
Windows XP, Service Pack 2
*
Windows XP

Erratic cursor movement encompasses a wide variety of behavior. While it is not possible to include all of the possible varieties of erratic movement, common symptoms include any or all of the following:

*
Jumping to the top of the screen
*
Rough tracking or not tracking at all
*
Pointer doesn't move or stops moving after a short time

When this behavior is observed when using a Logitech product within Windows® XP, it may be caused by a feature within Windows called "enhanced pointer precision". This feature may conflict with Logitech's software, causing the eratic movement. Enhanced pointer precision became available in Service Pack 2 and therefore is not applicable in any version of Windows® XP without Service Pack 2 installed. For more information on enhanced pointer precision, please see Microsoft's Knowledge Base article 895550.

Well I was using my mx1000 on a Everglide Titan cloth mat and it didn't seem remotely accurate while gaming (cs1.6). Switching back to an olde func surface 1030 (rough side) did the trick though.

High sensitivity - Hard surface for grip / control. Not sure what mats come under this category... Steelpads I think. Low sensitivity - A good cloth mat. I'm using low sensitivity with an Everglide Titan at the moment, thinking of trying high sensitivity, what mat should I go for?

If you're not gaming or anything you shouldn't be too bothered, but if you are... Get a good one. :)

I have a steelpad 4S (have had it for over a year now)

Its great and is double sided so if you bugger up one side just turn over :P

But the mouse problem you mentioned i seem to get with both my laser mice (copperhead and G5), although it happens rarely. Will have a look into the pointer precision thing.
