So now that we have MAG and KZ3 beta to play around with was just wondering what other people thought of move and FPS?

Have to say, am not liking it myself thus far.

I would rather have the controls be that moving the wand just moves the character with the cross-hairs remaining in middle.

This combination of moving crosshairs within the scope of the screen and then when the crosshair gets to the outer edge start turning, just isn't working for me.

Maybe I need more time, but I don't think it's going to gel with me.

Plus, doesn't take long before my arm starts aching a bit :(

My opinion is that Move would work perfectly fine with ‘on rails’ shooters where all you do is point and shot and have limited movement, but fps its to fiddly to move the crosshair across to the edge of the screen to rotate around..

It does work, and talented players would make it work and adapt perfectly fine. However after playing Dead Space Extraction Move and then KZ3 demo using move you can certainly tell that ‘on rails’ shooters are perfect for move…

KZ3 was much harder I felt with move then using a gamepad.. I also found Resident Evil a tad tricky with move and that’s almost like being on rails when you aim in that game.. lol

Overall move is decent, but for fps I don’t think it works as well as most hoped.. IMO.

Once i got my settings sorted for KZ3 i found it far easier to shoot people than using a DS3, many of the other things i also found pretty easy to do.

You do know you dont actually have to move it to the edge of the screen? You can set the bounding box to 0,0 if you so wish, have a play with the settings it helps a lot.

Ah cheers.. I'll give that a go. KZ3 demo was amazingly great fun with just a gamepad, fantastic graphics but I'll have a play with the settings - thanks for the tip..!!

I tried that, but it still required moving the cursor around in the screen rather than moving the wand simply turning the screen.

Maybe will try again this weekend, but just couldn't get to grips with it.

Using the Move is the only reason i'll even try the KZ3 demo. I'm appauling at shooters with a pad and just find it frustrating to the point that the only shooter i have on a console is Uncharted 1 & 2.

I can cope ok in things like Uncharted but would never be able to play it online.

I'll be setting the Kz3 demo to download and i'll give it a play today or tomorrow.

I tried the Dead Space Extraction demo on Monday and while it is only an on rails shooter my accuracy was far higher than i think it would have been with a DS3. Its just so much more natural for me.

Ultimately as long as the games don't HAVE to be played with the Move then its all good. There are some who will refuse to even try the Move for fear of being kicked out of the "hardcore" fanclub but for many others i think its either going to open shooters up to a new audience or be more comfortable for those that already play the games.

I've played on MAG extensively with Move and the KZ3 betas.
I find it to be extremely intuitive and far less cumbersome than using a pad.
Having played FPS games on PC for years, then on PS3 for years too, I'm somewhat of a veteran and I can confidently say the Move has really upped my game and feels much more natural once it's set up properly.
I think in many cases people are struggling because they haven't taken the time to find a set up that works for them, it's not just calibration of the controller, it's finding the sweet point in terms of sensitivity and aim/look boxes.
Took me a little while on MAG to figure it out, but KZ3 was much eaiser because I knew roughly what my preferences were.
It would probably help if the PS3 had some sort of universal FPS Move setting that you could apply to each compatible game, it wouldn't be perfect, but it'd at least give you a decent start point for tinkering.
