Having used gmail forever I've decided to move mail host.

Does anyone use a Gmail alternative? Or recommend one?

Well after having to change my yahoo password yet again (Flickr) ive now deleted that account.

But having used Gmail for many years and google's privacy policies changing a lot & all the search id checks & whatnot. Feel I need a more secure email service.

Even Evernote this week have said a member of staff can view your notes again another security/privicy thing.

Yes BT do offer email i think. I dont even use the 50GB cloud service from them.

I've used almost 4GB in gmail storage for email.

Ah cheers Joeyjojo: I was looking at Proton Mail just now :D they look VERY good.

Might be an idea about the imap idea, I've never used this feature of gmail. and then the encryption with thunderbird seems like a possible idea.

I do use Spark for my email app on mobile.

As the likes of other alternatives will cost £50 a year give or take.

Doing a 30day trial with JoeyJoJo's recommendation :D loving the app so far

Except they use yahoo which has been hit be several security breaches which would likely affect more then just yahoo only accounts.

Indeed, the first thing i did this morning is delete my Flickr account

Right I've been trying to find the best way to move my gmail to Fast Mail. Gave in just after 3 days of using the 30 day trial.

But I have 10k emails in Gmail I've been slowly going through these. Been trying to find the important ones!

Here are the instructions for importing:

https://www.fastmail.com/help/receive/migratemail.html?u=c61b4144

I have about four times that in my gmail and decided not to import them. Fancied a clean break.

Going through it slowly and making filters which I've never used before thanks to YouTube :) for Gmail

Getting software codes and whatnot and adding them to secure notes in Enpass.

Hoping that once ive done the filters that once I import to Fast Mail that it takes it with it

Whoa, it's been an interesting read, it's Google policy and adverts. Still time remaining on fast mail but as above im very impressed. I have however been using filters in gmail and ha e cleared 7k worth of email so its been easier

Officially move to Fastmail along with my own domain email :) managed to delete my gmail account junk to under 2GB so less £ per month outgoing with fastmail
Super happy now, and more organised going in to 2017. It's bloody quick at recieveing the emails too!
