Move DC to new domain

Hai guys,

Got a 2008 R2 Domain (dc.mydomain.com) for instance.

In a standalone lab, I have a server also running 2008 R2 with, amongst other things, a DC role. (dc.mydomain1.com) for instance.

What are the steps to move the standalone DC to the current domain. I'm guessing, demote, rename, move, promote (assuming I want it to become a DC in the new domain).

Is there a simpler way?

Ok, I've demoted, changed the server name and moved it back to WORKGROUP, removed the roles too, put it on an IP address and subnet of the new domain, but it won't join, keeps saying no DC was available. I can ping the ipaddress of the DC but not name. Hmm

sorted, my DNS ipaddress was 1 number wrong
