After 7 years, I am looking to upgrade my monitor from a 24" BenQ 241W (1920 x 1200) to a 27" BenQ GW2765HT (2560 x 1440).

Age is not on my side (74), so I have stopped flight simulator gaming (sold all the stuff) and wish to use the monitor for word processing, browsing, forum viewing and some general photograph work along with some light video editing work.

I have just upgraded to a Sony DSC RX-100 MKIV compact camera and will be shooting some 4k video and carrying out some video editing of the footage. The footage will be viewed on a large 65" 4k TV, not on this proposed monitor except during editing.

I am concerned that the text size on the 27" BenQ GW2765 HT (2560 x 1440) will be smaller than the text I see on my current 24" BenQ 241W (1920 x 1200). I do understand the increase in real estate will give me a larger area to work with and the pixel size change will make the text clearer.

Are there any people on the forum who can offer advice about this text size when comparing monitors? Is there much of a difference? My eyesight is not brilliant (still 20/20) and I use a set of VDU glasses optimised for 21" from the screen. As you will understand I have no problem with the current monitor.

Final note. I also have a Macbook Pro (15- inch, Early 2011) that I dual boot (500 GB SSD) between macOS Sierra v 10.12.2 and Windows 7 Pro 64 bit and would like to connect to the new monitor if the need arises.

Edit. If anyone suggests an alternative monitor, I am flexible up to around £450.

Any advice gratefully received.

Many thanks.

I am quite surprised no one has answered my initial request for advice, given the expertise that frequents this forum.

Anyway it looks like I will have no problem reading the text on the BenQ GW2765HT (2560 x 1440).

Thanks
