Move to LCD?

Hey everyone, I intend to upgrade my system soon, getting an ati radeon x1900 xtx, new PSU and motherboard. However, I'm undecisive as to whether I should get an LCD or not. I play games way too much, possibily in excess of 10 hours a day if its a good game I'm playing at the time. Is it worth moving to an LCD? Would I notice any ghosting, texture blurring, or any other nasty effects? Also, would there be any performance loss if I was to choose to keep my CRT monitor and use a DVI to VGA converter? My monitor is about 2 or 3 years old (Dell M782p), but its fine for me in games. Any suggestions?

would be fine if you chose to stick with crt, however if you want to reclaim some desk space lcds are very nice, they work for gaming and movies too.

I'd stick to your CRT if I were you, 10 hours gaming a day = hardcore, one of the times their faster response is a big deal. You shouldn't notice any performance troubles with DVI-VGA, I haven't even in shooters, but then I don't game as much as you :)

It's what you play that matters, not how long you play for. Competitive / hardcore FPS'ers are the ones currently let down by TFT's. If however, you are spending 10 hours a day honing your RTS skills or playing MMORPG's, then a TFT would be far more suitable.

As someone said, you really need to try one out for yourself to decide. Personally, I could never go back to a CRT now.

Well in that case, I think i'll stick to my CRT. I play FPS's, CS, CSS, Battlefield 2, soon to move on to Battlefield 2142. Thanks for all the replies.

Took me quite a while to go for a TFT but i am glad i did in the end. The picture quality, for me, is far superior to a CRT. Games look really nice too.
