I've just moved to a new area and finally sorted out broadband, but i only seem to get a download speed of 60kbyte/s!

I'm about 200 yards from the exchange and i'm on Sky Broadband 16mb/Max package (exchange is LLU). When they activated it they said it would be around 6mb/s which i thought was rather low.

My old flat had a genuine 16mb/s so this is quite frustrating!!! My 3G card is just as quick!

More and more importantly - why didn't i mention that my PC is a reasonably long distance from the router through 2 walls - could be the issue? I forgot that my xbox 360 downloaded some updates in no time at all (wired). When I did a tracert the ping to the router was showing at around 280ms.. not good. The signal strength is reasonable (2-3 bar) so i'm not sure that would really make that much difference?

I might look at putting a wireless access point in between my PC and router to fix the problem.

If you're getting 280ms to the router, it sounds like the wireless is your issue. The AP needs to work as a client to be much use to you.
