I had a huge headache these past 2 months moving my phone + broadband from Sky to Plusnet. First I ordered fiber, but on the day the BT engineer was supposed to come and change our faceplate he just didn't turn up or even call us. As a result, I just cancelled it, then ordered regular ADSL so no engineer would be required.
Then on the day of the transfer I got an email saying it was cancelled, and I had to call Plusnet (20 minute wait) to sort it out. They placed a new one, which was another 2 week wait, then the same thing happened again, and another 20 minute wait to speak to someone. They said Sky was blocking the transfer, so I had to contact Sky, then after doing that Sky said Plusnet were blocking it...
So after like the 3rd order failed, Plusnet said I could get around the block (which was actually Openreach for some reason, they wouldn't allow my line to be transferred) by getting a new phone number, so I did that and the line was transferred today.
Now a new problem - the router is unable to connect to the internet using the same socket we used in the lounge for all of our previous providers. The broadband connects, but on the router I can see it gets stuck at "Connecting". So after a 50 minute call with Plusnet, we discovered the Plusnet router will only work if I plug it into the test socket which is in a cupboard and away from where we need the router.
Any ideas why it only works in the test socket when all other routers worked fine in our regular socket? We only have 1 socket, and the flat is only about 6 years old (was new build when we bought it).
TLDR: Our Plusnet router only works in the Test Socket. Why is this?
