Movie editing software needed

I have a Toshiba Gigashot A40F HDD camcorder. I usually use Windows Movie Maker to edit my films, but the files (MPEG2) that my camcorder puts out can not be used with WMM. Anyone got any ideas of how to get round this?

Also when I copy the films onto my laptop and play them through Media Player, the files are very jagged on the edges, and jump about a lot. The output direct from the camcorder is fine though, again, any thoughts?

virtualdub mod


try them in that order

save them as uncompressed avi (or xvid), then use in movie maker

Many thanks for the reply, I have tried the virtual dub and mod, neither worked so I looked again at the output files from the camcorder, they aren't Mpeg 2, they are MPeg4/H264 files. Any editors for that out there?
