I'm making a video for my mums 60th, it's basically some slides and video clips of the grand kids set to some music.

What would be the best free software to accomplish this?

I would need the ability to add text, trim video etc...

Anything out there for free?

Yeah some places have managed to monetize it, i always get it from Windows Essentials http://download.cnet.com/Windows-Live-Essentials-2012/3000-20418_4-10805747.html
That doesn't want to install on windows 10 as it just keeps throwing out errors.

Edi: If the cnet download link file constantly errors out, then use the link below as it should work (it just did for me as it seems there's issues with the English installer).

Odd, worked ok on mine but that was pre anni update.

Use ShotCut, works a treat once you get used to the layout, and yes @jsmoke you can in both WMM and ShotCut

Thanks for the replies. Ended up using Kinemaster on my phone. Costs 2 quid per month (only need it for one month) but is incredibly powerful and easy to use for this sort of thing.
