Roy Batty's (Rutger Hauer) screen-matched leather coat from Ridley Scott's dystopian sci-fi thriller Blade Runner. Batty wore his coat for most of the film as he and the other fugitive replicants were hunted by Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) and it screen-matches to several shots in the film through notable creases, most notably around the collar, as well as some promotional shots.
The coat is predominantly made of black leather, and features padded piping around the collar, cuffs, pockets, elbows and hem, with three metal buckles on its front.
After production, the coat was donated to a charity auction for the Verity Bargate Award at the Soho Theatre in London by Sandy Lieberson, who worked at film distribution company Goldcrest Films as Chief of Production at the time of the donation.
It is accompanied by a letter contemporaneous to the original auction and a handwritten note on Lieberson's headed paper. The coat has signs of wear from production use, most notably water damage from scenes set in the rain. The black has come off the padded piping in many places, revealing an orange layer beneath, and the coat has become discoloured.
Estimate: £30,000 - 50,000 M
