anyone know of an app that you can track upcoming movies (which ideally notifies once the date has come), and then mark/add movies you've watched at cinema, and even better, add your own rating.

at the moment my friend and i are keeping track using a notes app, but it's lame and as the list is growing it's getting more and more messy.

Imdb. Been using it for years and works for me.
i'm trying it now, but the watch list seems too basic, in that, i can't order it in release date from today going forward, and i can't seem to remove films from "to watch" to "watched", so it's messy, and on top, i have films in that list that i'd like to watch but they are old and wont ever be at the cinema. is there a way to create more than one list?

at the moment the only good thing i guess is that if you add a film to your watch list, it notifies you once it's out, however it would be good if there was a link to click that auto adds it to your calendar.

Letterboxd. Used it for years and it's fantastic. Does exactly what you want - logs the day you watched a film (or re-watched), you can give everything you log a rating on a 5-star scale, you can write a written review, I think you can have your own personal notes for any given movie.

They've also been growing a lot in the past few years on the marketing front. There's some good podcasts they release, and their "famous" red carpet question is what people's 4 favourite movies are. It's interesting hearing what the favourites are of all the revered actors and directors.

https://trakt.tv/ is usually quite popular.

This is better, but 2 features would be nice. One main one is to order the movies in your list by upcoming date. I've added 20 films, but the ones coming out in 3 days are totally lost in that list so it's easy to miss them.

And another wound be nice is a calendar that as you add to the list, syncs with a Google calendar, so I can see from my Google calendar the release dates much easier.

Edit: a 3rd nice feature would be colab with friends, so they can add or at least freely see the list too.

Not sure about its upcoming tracking features but Letterboxd comes highly recommended by a few friends for tracking watched movies and discovering more.

Will check this out later to see if it is any better than the above
