...how?

Hiring a van at the young age of 22 costs a bomb :(

We folded it in half once to get it into a car - it's never been the same since... Would it be feasible to strap it to my Punto's roof? Or is there anyone in Bristol with a van who fancies helping me out on Friday/Saturday?

if you've folded it once its already knackered - as the wire that stretches round the edges will have buckled and thats what the springs are attached to!

so you might aswell just fold it again :(

i was told this the other day when i was going to buy a double mattress, so i ended up buying a weird matress that rolls up :p

What about ringing round taxi firms and ask for a 7 seater

edit: tell them why, they will probably charge extra, but most round here are happy to do such things (transport mattresses that is, not charge extra. Well both actually :p)

Keeping or binning?

I had a severe rage-a-hol attack when disposing of my old one. Wrestled with it down the stairs, through the garden and into the back of the car and having to move the seat forward and drive with my knees by my ears.

Get to the municpal tip, open the boot and it unfolds and smacks me face breaking my sunglasses. My advice, get busy with a cutting implement and carve it up.

It was freeeeeeeeee :D

2nd hand, and solid as a rock :S Might be worth my while to buy new tbh... and I bet the next resident in this student room won't mind a spare double mattress to play with...

I'm sure they won't. Also, a new matteres is like new shoes, or clothes. Always a good feeling. If you can get a new one, and afford it. Do so.

I know I shouldn't but that story made me giggle.

Hheeheh...

Hrm I dunno flirting with white van men is dangerous, they've got a rolling lockable hostage area there...

I've pretty much decided to buy a new mattress - I mean, mum's just been kind and given me some money seeing as I'm now out of uni and making my own way - so IKEA here I come!

The ex can have my old mattress. He doesn't seem to mind it being hard as a rock and possibly even lumpier through folding it to fit it into my Punto - the lad's welcome to it...

Now for the next question - sprung or foam? The foam one includes "5 different comfort zones" (whatever that means) plus a top layer of memory foam, which is nice stuff. But I gather pocket-sprung mattresses are generally seen to be better...?

well as i said up near the top somewhere, the other day i had to buy and move a double for my lil sister, we were told that we couldnt get a sprung in the car so we got a foam one - it cost us £200 for the double with a layer of memory foam on it and it was hella comfy!

the sprung matress i have has a small layer of foam on it just to make the top a little "sinky" as i like to squish into my matress a little but i like it firm underneath that hehe.

all in all the memory foam kicks ass!
