My flat mate has asked me to install watercooling in his system (after he gets the parts for christmas) which is fine, no issues with doing that and we've got a parts list.
However the rig is moved to and from his uni 6 times a year in a car.

Just wondering if people tend to drain their rigs before moving them? or do most just leave it as it is?

I think if he has to drain it then the practicalities of WC may be to much work for him, as he is useless with anything like this and i'm sure its more for e-peen and bragging rights than cooling benifits or quietness.

cheers in advance

nothing wrong with moving a water-cooled system as it shold be reasonably water-tight. Just keep it upright in the car, preferably strapped in. You wouldn't want to get hit in the back by a water-cooled computer!

You wouldn't want to get hit in the back by any computer tbh, it's gonna hurt like hell lol.

Never emptied mine to move it around and I've moved it around an awful lot.

i feel more confortable moving a wc system in a car than an air cooled one

heatsinks are so damn heavy compared to a waterblock

-sounds like this will be a PITA for you though, you dont' want to have to hold his hand all the time

As long as you prevent the air pocket in the reservoir from getting into your tubes/pump/rad/blocks it would be fine I would have thought. In other words don't lay it on its side, or upside down.
