Moving Aperture Photos

Having installed Lion some months ago on another HD and pretty much sticking with it now I really need to move over my photos from my SL disk.

I already have Aperture installed on Lion and it has a few projcts in there - what is the best way to move all the photos over without losing all the work that I have done on them?

Copy the library file from SL onto a USB stick (or whatever) and click the button marked import in Aperture on your lion machine...

The photos aren't stored in the library, when I import them i have them stored in a sub-dir with the project name.

So, would copying the photos across retaining dir structure and then importing the library file work?
