Gents,

I'm thinking of getting a second hand full suspension frame and before i go ahead and put offers in on them i was wanting to check a few things:

*Can i move all my parts from my Marin Bobcat trail hardtail 2010 over to a new frame?
*Would 6" travel on the rear be to much for XC?
* I'm 5'10 would 18" be ideal frame size? My local shop sold me a 20.5 and it's little large when off road

I've come across a few Kona Coiler frames going cheap, ebay item # 110840163626 looks in good condition for the age, not to much in way of reviews for the bike but what i did find say its not too heavy.

Maybe. Depends on headset type, seat post diameter, fork length.

It depends on where you ride. Up to 140mm is plenty for most people.

Roughly speaking yes. But it varies between manufacturers.

One of the guys I ride with has one. It's quite heavy and a slog on the hills. The one you listed is VERY old in MTB years. Unless you know the person I would avoid it because you don't know it's history.

Cheers for the response, i know the length of my fork must be huge due to the crazy amount of spacers i have!
I'll get go for an 17/18inch frame

Is there much that can go wrong with the frames? there's quite a few 2006 models about which apart from scratches look ok (no cracks, dents)

I'm hoping to get frame for less than £200 so nowt fancy, any tips or am i better off just putting up with what i have for now until i someday have some money :)

Apologies, I wasn't clear enough in my post. When I said fork length I meant the A2C of the fork. e.g: You can't put a 120mm fork on a frame designed for 160mm forks. What you said about steerer tube length is also true. Head tube length varies a lot between frame sizes and manufacturers. Add into the equation stack height: Head tube, headset, stem, spacers. And you have to make sure they all add up to accomodate the steerer tube.

I don't know that much about the Kona frames. They are pretty strong AFAIK. It's just an unknown quantity. It might be ok.
