Moving domains

I'm part of a group running a residents association.

The website was setup under a .co.uk and has just expired, the guy who put it together doesn't want to pay to renew it but is still being helpful.

How do I transfer it to somebody like tsohost, do I need something from the old owner to make the transfer possible?

Ask him to transfer the domain to you. Then simply ask TSOhost if they would transfer the website files and any databases.

Easiest way.

As Oxy said if you want to "transfer" it however the domain will still be owned by the person who originally registered it unless you also pay for nominet transfer to your or someone else's account which is around £12 the last time I checked.
