Moving files between Boot Camp and Mac

Hi all, I have a recent MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.4 with Windows 7 running via Boot Camp. I've just downloaded a few big files, which I normally do on Windows because some applications that I use on the files afterwards are Windows-only. However, I downloaded them on Mac OS X this time, and when I tried to access them in Windows, it said no permissions etc.

So fair enough, I'm not surprised. I thought maybe it was ok to go back into Mac OS X, and move the files over to the Boot Camp partition. But it won't let me; cut and paste, and copy don't work. What's up with that? I think a USB stick would work but it isn't big enough to transfer my files over.

So does anyone know which if any permissions need to be modified, and if this is for Windows or Mac OS X?

Also, I have a big external hard drive that I used to use with Windows, so it was formatted there ages ago. Ever since I got my MacBook Pro, I have never been able to move or copy files to it, only just read from it. I get a stop sign on my cursor if I try to. Does my external hard drive need reformatting?

Regards

They are over 4GB so FAT32 wouldn't work. I found a 8GB SD card somewhere, which I formatted in HFS+ (called Mac Extended Journaled or something in Disk Utility), and then managed to copy the file onto it. But then when I tried copying from it to Boot Camp, I get a 'error 0x80070057 parameter is incorrect'! Argh! And I thought computers were supposed to make our lives easier.

I will try and move the file out of my User folder next. This is the User folder in Mac right?

Edit: Strange, while the ISO failed to copy from my SD card with the error above, I just tried copying again from my Mac partition the original RAR (containing the ISO inside) and it copied over fine. Hmm...
