Moving files between operating systems

Just wondering if someone can help, If i have two operating systems on one hard drive will i be able to transfer files directly from one to the other? e.g be able to open a file if i am using xp but my file is saved in windows 2000

No you just go into my computer and browse to the partition that has the other operating system on, you have access to any file on there.
