Moving files from old install drive

Evening all,

I'm about to change the mobo, cpu and ram on my rig and obviously need to reinstall windows 7.

Since I was only using one hard drive, the install and my files are on the same drive.

I'll be installing win7 to a new SSD and using my old drive for data.

Apart from removing all windows password protection before removing my old drive is there anything else I should do to ensure my data is still accessable after the new install?

Old hd connection on the mobo i.e. pata?

Sata.

I just want to make sure i can still access my old files from the old drive on the new install. On previous wondows versions this wasnt a problem as long as the old user account had no password, is win7 the same?
