Hi guys how are you?

I have a Gigabyte X470 Aourus Gaming 7 Wifi and the 2700x now running at 4.2 all cores

In this Black Friday i got at a good price the 3800X , i would like some advices to overclock it, the CPU will arrive this tuesday, i was reading some posts and seems that to achieve 4.4 the sweet spot is something about 1.3 right? But i wanna more ideas and advices

As we don`t have PBO at 2700 series when i change the cpu it will appear at the bios and i will have to disable right?

Sorry for my english, i`m from Brazil

Thanks for everyone

Use latest bios, 1usmus v1.1 power plan and you are set. :)
Overclock the ram only. Every ns drop is 0.9%-2% more fps.

Yes. The autoboost through the powerplan & bios work best.

Just one more question

Do i need to make the changes at the bios that the guy that made the plan posted?

  • Global C-state Control = Enabled
  • Power Supply Idle Control = Low Current Idle
  • CPPC = Enabled
  • CPPC Preferred Cores = Enabled
  • AMD Cool'n'Quiet = Enabled
  • PPC Adjustment = PState 0
  • I also recommend disabling PBO, which activates Precision Boost 2.0 for clock management. This ensures only temperature and FIT play a role for clock speeds
Or just apply the plan ?

Yes follow the guide and the settings. I have done so also, and works flawlesly without generating heat. The Precision Boost is really clever doing great job especially for gaming.

I'm in the same boat. Where do I get this powerplan from and what do you mean by ns? Pbo on?

MANY THANKS

ns = nanoseconds from RAM latency.
PBO - OFF

For 1usmus power plan read the article here
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/1usmus-custom-power-plan-for-ryzen-3000-zen-2-processors/

follow it religiously and here the last update.
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/1usmus-power-plan-for-amd-ryzen-new-developments/

Install this AFTER you install latest bios from mobo manufacturer & chipset from AMD.

AMD cool 'n' quiet is missing on some board, you won't have to worry. If you have any questions please ask :D
All done, many thanks. My ram is now at 3800. Do I need to set my if to 1900 and if so how do I do that on a asus x470 board?

is it worth a -0.1 voltage offset?

a) Check CPU-Z to see if the NB runs at 1900(1899) and not 950
b) Nah. It will cut you speed.
