Anything you can re-use, like hard drives, case etc?

The CPU is an Athlon 64 3000 right? Cos the A8V is socket 939, not socket A fer Athlon XPs.

Ok, im assuming youre going to reuse the case, keyb+mouse, optical and hard drives etc

If you went socket 939 can also reuse the RAM, depending on what speed it is but lets have a see if we can do conroe within your budget...

Here you go..

MB-003-AK Asrock ConroeXFire-eSATA2 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-003-AK)
£53.99 £53.99
CP-126-IN Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 "LGA775 Allendale" 1.86GHz (1066FSB) - Retail (CP-126-IN)
£114.99 £114.99
MY-030-GL GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC5300 667MHz Value DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX21GB5300DC) (MY-030-GL)
£74.99 £74.99
GX-041-OK OcUK MSI GeForce 7900 GTO SILENT 512MB GDDR3 VIVO TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-041-OK)
£134.99 £134.99
Subtotal £378.96
VAT £66.32
Total £445.28

That setup will wipe the floor with your cureent system :)

yes sorry u are right it is a 939 ( sally = noob of the week)
yes i was planning on using my exsisting harddrive its 120 gig not even used 20% of that yet lol, also plan to use my existing dvd/cdrom. from what ive read i might have to buy a new psu thou

Never noticed it said A8v :p

however, id still go for the spec i did, as you could get a faor price for the 939 stuff if you sold now :)

I'd really try to squeeze in 2GB of RAM for a new system and PSU wise the Seasonic S12 430 Watt would handle it fine as would 400 - 500 from Enermax, Tagan etc

Yes you can get the 2Gb RAM and still be undr £500, to the OP, what PSU do you have at the moment?

Nice thing about the asrock board is it has a 20 pin connector for the psu

its an older one i think its 600watts.i did get a converter cable for pci i think with it. does have 2g of memory make that much difference, if it does i will opt for it
