Moving From BT Hell

Has anyone had any problems moving away from BT Broadband.

I asked for a new Home Hub in June, and this is all that i requested.

I called yesterday to get a MAC code and they told me i am in a contract for 18th Months.

Now this is the first time i was aware of this and i now have to wait 15 Days so they can find the recording that i had with the sales rep / Cold caller.

Has anyone else had problems with BT in this manner ?

Is 15 days to provide this information slightly excessive ?
 
You should know everytime you take a service theres going to be a contract involved of some form and I think the time frame is well within their rights unfortunately :/
 
So i have to wait 15days to provide me with a phone call that will show them i did not agree to a new contract then another 5 days for a Mac taking me into the next billing cycle :(

And it was not a new service that i took it was a piece of hardware.
